Books are my Happy place! Lots of photos

Here is my entry for the More than words challenge, I haven't played in my art journal for quite some time,I forgot how much I really enjoyed it!

this is "My favorite days start with Messy hair, books and coffee" those are my perfect days LOL I love sitting in the corner of my couch with a good book and a cup of coffee (ha the hair is always a mess) on cold days you grab the throw and get lost in your book for hours! but I also love to craft with books..I find them at the thrift stores or the dollar store. I try not to buy too many at one time LOL but habitat for humanity has such a huge collection of Old warn out books it's so hard not to grab a couple LOL

I started with a basic collage background using some of these really cool squares from this really cool book I got from the dollar store awhile ago...I loved the cover and thought it would be great as an altered book or even as a art journal the actual book is called the tile makes the room haha so it has all these really cool photos of different tiles and rooms...I just thought it was cool.

Like I said I used the squares around the edge of my page then in the middle I used torn up dictionary pages...I sketched my lovely lady on an old German cook book page (LOVE that one it even smells old)

you can see these elements in the photo below...I did add some distress texture paste crackle💖...when I first had the idea for this page, I was thinking an apricot color haha as you can see I didn't like it so much! So I added a watered down admiral blue then took a crumpled up paper towel and dabbed off areas that alone added so much texture

More than words challenge

 

unnn yeah I haven't sketched anything in a Very very long time LOL but I was in the mood...shes not perfect but she's mine and you can only erase so many times on old paper LOL shhh..her eye on the left has a small hole in the paper hehe that's when I said enough was enough

I made a couple little books with the left over pages on my desk

okay I could probably ramble more but you can see the photos

Happiness

This months word inspiration at More than words was so easy...Happiness...the first thing I thought of was little V she brings our family so much happiness and she's the perfect subject for a layout! I was going to use a simple square frame in the middle but then I thought I really wanted a place that V's Mom could write some stuff .So I went through my Junkie draw, it's full of odds and end and embellishments..I spotted the card kit my secret sister gave me a couple months ago from stamping up...

Last DT reveal for Lets Get Sketchy

 My last DT Reveal for Lets Get Sketchy- I have been so Honored to be apart of such a wonderful team and Brenshevia has been the best! When I first joined this team I was still fairly new to all things crafty and grieving (to tell the truth you never really stop) the loss of my youngest daughter, Its hard to put into words what being apart of this team has meant for me....it helped me fill a void/ find a purpose...kept me company on nights I couldn't sleep...I got to explore and learn so many crafty techniques...made many new friends...oh and I got to ogle so many talented scapbookers out there....(I learned that just because my layout looked different didn't mean it was just as pretty as the next hahah that took a long time) I learned to use my imagination and it was ok to just be me! So I just wanted to thank Brenshevia  and all the members of the Team past and present...you've made this so much fun for me and taught me so much! 💗

for my last sketch I decided to use photo's of my best friend even though she is over 1200 miles away our friendship is still as strong as ever....this is some of the silliness she sends me....haha yes she has me on snapchat LOL

My first post of the new year...woohoo! I hope everyone had wonderful holidays,ours was nice and quiet for a change! Now I'd like to share my latest layout I did using the new sketch from Lets Get Sketchy

there are going to be some changes this year...like....we will move from 4 sketches a month to 2 sketches each month.  Sketches will post on the on 1st and 15th of each month. DT Reveal Lets Get Sketchy

 Good morning....I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! Lets start our week off with a new sketch from Lets Get Sketchy.... I really wanted to use these selfie photos my daughter did but I couldn't really find any papers that I liked to go with them...so I used my Silhouette portrait and the print and cut feature to make my own papers :) I did a couple mock layouts and took screen shots and sent them to her to see which colors and patterns she like best...this was her pick....all in all I like how it came out even though its a very basic (no embellishments) its perfect for her book!
