Books are my Happy place! Lots of photos

* Warning lots of photos*

Here is my entry for the More than words challenge, I haven't played in my art journal for quite some time,I forgot how much I really enjoyed it!

this is "My favorite days start with Messy hair, books and coffee" those are my perfect days LOL I love sitting in the corner of my couch with a good book and a cup of coffee (ha the hair is always a mess) on cold days you grab the throw and get lost in your book for hours! but I also love to craft with books..I find them at the thrift stores or the dollar store. I try not to buy too many at one time LOL but habitat for humanity has such a huge collection of Old warn out books it's so hard not to grab a couple LOL

I started with a basic collage background using some of these really cool squares from this really cool book I got from the dollar store awhile ago...I loved the cover and thought it would be great as an altered book or even as a art journal the actual book is called the tile makes the room haha so it has all these really cool photos of different tiles and rooms...I just thought it was cool.

Like I said I used the squares around the edge of my page then in the middle I used torn up dictionary pages...I sketched my lovely lady on an old German cook book page (LOVE that one it even smells old)

you can see these elements in the photo below...I did add some distress texture paste crackleđź’–...when I first had the idea for this page, I was thinking an apricot color haha as you can see I didn't like it so much! So I added a watered down admiral blue then took a crumpled up paper towel and dabbed off areas that alone added so much texture

unnn yeah I haven't sketched anything in a Very very long time LOL but I was in the mood...shes not perfect but she's mine and you can only erase so many times on old paper LOL shhh..her eye on the left has a small hole in the paper hehe that's when I said enough was enough

I made a couple little books with the left over pages on my desk

okay I could probably ramble more but you can see the photos

*Stopped typing to take photo of book..LOL*

Day 11 and 12 #thedailymarker30day colorchallenge

So I never got the chance to update my blog yesterday for the coloring challenge so I will combine yesterdays and today's...

this is today's...I wanted to get a bit messy so I went with another art journal page...there is no right or wrong everyone sees something different..this page was inspired by another challenge well its more of a personal challenge really they just give you a word and how you interpret
that word is up to you...its called push your boundaries challenge..and my next word was splatter..see where I'm going here? LOL Messy!

So we were out and about the other day and I saw all those flyers (we live in a touristy area) don't ask me why but I grabbed a couple of different ones my husband just gave me strange looks, anyway as I was looking through one I came across this cool ad for some attractions in the area it looked hand drawn with little splashes of color..I knew I wanted to incorporate that into my page...well really I made it my focus LOL I pulled colors from the image to use on my page...

here are yesterdays ... cute puppies LOL

aren't they adorable...they are from Kate Hadfield Designs, I got them for free from Simply cards and papercrafts magazine.

thanks for coming to check out my work!

Day 9 #thedailymarker30day

I did something a bit different...I did an art journal page haha I needed to color it anyway so I thought that would count as my day of coloring for the daily markers coloring challenge...

this is also a part of the Push your boundaries challenge number 8  Tear. (it's not really a challenge you kind of follow a prompt at your own pace) ..I started with a blank page...I tore up some papers...I love to tear book pages this one was an old dictionary and some scrapbook patterned paper LOL...I used dylusions sprays and a couple different stencils ...O wasn't really going for the red white and blue but it happened...I decided on a big border I traced the edge of a stencil to create the scallopy border and painted it black..I couldn't get my paint pen to work so I used a word stencil and white paint over the border and really liked how that looked. I used the image I colored in day 6 I thought it worked and found a quote I really liked (I actually have a small stack of them printed on tissue paper just for my projects LOL)

there we have it! I like it and it was fun and very messy!

thanks for coming by!

Something magical

My first try at no line coloring using Ink on 3 Fadeout ink that I received in my design team package from Scrapsalotllc.com they always send the coolest stuff! ... I am also using a stamp set from ink on 3 called  Magical unicorn..such a beautiful stamp and I just love unicorns... so first impression was I couldn't see it LOL well duh but I have pretty bad eyesight so I really couldn't see it so I stamped it more than once to get a good clear image...
So I did two different ones one in colored pencil and one in alcohol marker...I will admit it's going to take a whole lot of practice LOL heck I'm just getting used to coloring normal and now this LOL I will admit I like the colored pencils better at this point...I paired my Beautiful Unicorn with some pretty Rainbow papers from Honey bee stamps (also in the package)
I used the colored pencil version in my art journal...LOve how that turned out!

Fantasy and Wings

The word inspiration Fantasy and the creative challenge word wings seemed to go hand in hand for this month...the word fantasy made me think of fairies...as a little girl, I used to believe that fireflies/lightning bugs were little fairies. So I created a scene with little magic garden fairies.

More than words

I tried to capture the sparkle and shine, it was really hard with such poor lighting (it's been so cloudy for days here and I just couldn't put off taking the picture any longer or I'd forget LOL )

Goals for the new year

I've never been one to make new years resolutions or set any goals in a long time...maybe because I could never keep them but I used to think that the new year brought a new start...like a clean slate...the last few years I haven't even acknowledged the new year or the other holidays for that matter...yeah you say Happy Holidays or whatever but in my own home we didn't decorate or anything...until this year...for some reason my eyes opened and said enough was enough..okay I know this doesn't make a whole lot of sense to anyone reading but it does to me and my family..

so when I saw the new challenge over at More than words I knew I had to play along.

What does the word GOALS inspire me to create? I decided on a journal page (actually it's going to be my cover for my new journal its just not attached yet) I decided to use Goal in a quote on my page but also I kind of printed out my goals for this year and the main one is to Let it go ...basically it means to let go of the angry, pain, grief, guilt....I thought I had to hang on to all those things in order to keep the memories I didn't want to lose those...they are very precious. but in keeping all those bad things I just ended up isolating and closing myself off well NO more! A new year is a New start!

Late night Art Journaling

I know I don't share my Art Journal all that often but I've had a couple late nights the last couple of weeks and those seem to bring out my play time with my journal LOL....it seems to calm me.

here I was on a circle kick...I tend to really like them..maybe because I can't cut a circle freehand to save my life!

this one was inspired by a pin on pinterest, I saw then do this on a hand bag and thought it looked kind of cool so I had to give it a shot!
pinterest inspired

this last one I did the other night when I just couldn't sleep..I don't own many stencils but I try to use anything I can get my hands on LOL don't you just love my handmade journal..its so sad that its one page away from being full...so I'll have to make a new one!

my favorite destination and some news!

Good evening all.......I have a small project I wanted to share and some really good news too... First the project is just a art journal page I was playing with...I saw a post on Faber-Castell called take the challenge,Every month, on the first Monday, they post a challenge and their take on it. You'll have 12 days to take this on. Leave a comment to the challenge post with a link to your creation based on that challenge. The following Monday, we will pick TWO winners randomly from among the readers who participated in that week's challenge. And the winners will get a prize from Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft®.
Today's challenge is about making something about your most favorite destination...

So of course I used Maine,I miss living there but I am so thankful that I still get to go there for vacations but its such a long drive from Wisconsin....my favorite spot is at the lake...I used to just sit and read the paper...the quiet was so nice and the scenery is absolutely beautiful!
for this page I actually used the comics page from a Maine news paper I had stashed away......some old pieces of cardboard I had around some random stamps just because I hadn't used them yet and wanted to see what they looked like...lol and of course a couple mists...

thanks for coming to take a peek .....its not the best page but I'm still learning and an art journal is the perfect place to try new thing!

Now for my news.....
If you've been a follower of my blog from the beginning you know these last 9 months or so have been heartbreaking,I've struggled with a very hard loss and I am slowly learning how to live with it....We had to put off the wedding we had planned last October (it just didn't seem right to have it at that time) so this time we didn't plan,we didn't even invite anyone....no stress,no wasted money,no guests to fly out....have you caught on to my news yet? on July 3rd I got Married to the man of my dreams....and it was perfect!

yes I know the bands don't match but they fit us perfect....that and we bought them years ago LOL

Have a wonderful 4th of July!

what I wanted to be....art journal

Over at Another freaking scrappy challenge they asked, What did you want to be when you grew up?
you can create a layout, art journalling page, card or tag for our challenges, as long as you keep with the spirit of the theme......I decided to do an art journal page....I just started the art journal...I liked the idea of a place I could try new things and just kind of be free to experiment with out messing up a whole LO ....

so first here is my page for Another freaking scrappy challenge

Now like I said I just started this journal and guess what I made it all by my self LOL here is what the cover looks like...

I used an old pair of jeans....

this is the video I used to make it....
