abundance of joy

Today I want to share a card I made using the hero arts vineyard heroscapes and hero art grape vine fancy frame...I can't take credit for the card design, I saw it on pinterest I think and I'm sure it was a design team member of hero arts that made the card I saw....

all supplies can be found at Scrapsalot -Inks Dies-Stamps

I used ink oxides to water color the fancy frame, twisted citron, mowed lawn, dusty concord and seedless preserves and finally gathered twigs...I cut multiple frames one in white and three in black..I stacked them to give it nice dimension up close it has a shadow effect I love it!

I used a combination of different inks for the vineyard scene the first two layers are Catherine Pooler inks, lime rickey and grass skirt the third layer and the trees and houses are archival inks peeled paint and watering can Jet black for the sentiment...the final layer on the vineyard is the tiny grape layer I used wilted violets I think next time I will use a brighter color so they stand out more!

I really love how this card turned out ...and the layering stamps were very easy to line up even with my horrible eye sight LOL

thanks for stopping by...make sure you stop by Scrapsalot there is a little something for all your crafty needs!

I used the Birthday puppies digi stamp from Bugaboo stamps but only used the pup with the present!

super simple but effective 😁 I've been dying to use this this candle washi tape, I received a sample in a Happy mail envelope awhile ago...I thought it worked well with this card!

thanks for stopping but, I hope you're having a fabulous week!

Kind words can heal

I was checking out all my FB pages I follow and I came across the new mini challenge on the More than words challenge page basically you create a card, tag,ATC (Artist trading card) or postcard and upload it on FB under the challenge post in the comments section...see Photos below...

so I thought I have all these really cool supplies and I was just going to play.. I pulled out a bunch of supplies from scrapsalot and a bunch of random stuff ...old book pages, buttons, metal pieces I think they were for jewelry but who knows LOL drywall tape, glass beads Oh and a piece of broken chain I'm pretty sure there is a brad that had a broken back. so here is a look at the finished  Artist trading card...

Okay first layer cardboard or something very sturdy I used recycled cereal box cut to 2.5 x.3.5 .next step was collage I used old book pages and used Matte medium to adhere them...  next layer was texture paste...I let it dry while I was trying to figure out which items I was going to use on my project.

Next step I added my drywall tape then added all the items (buttons, metal, beads and such) to my project, I did use Matte medium to adhere them...this time it took awhile for it to dry so I kind of sped this up with my heat tool LOL Caution if your not careful and heat one spot too long it will bubble.

Next step adding Gesso I covered my entire project with gesso just to make it easier for me...some places just a very light layer. again we wait for it to dry hmm sometimes I think I spend more time waiting for it to dry then I do actually creating it LOL Now I added colors I really love Distress oxide spray but as of right now I only have two colors but they work so well together...I could have added more using oxide ink and just smooshed them on my craft mat and used a water brush...that would have worked too.. after I had the colors the way I wanted I added black Water Soluble Oil Pastels all the way around the edge then dry brushed some white acrylic paint on some of the surfaces for highlights it made the texture really pop!

the last touches where the moth/butterfly, I had a few already colored and cut out from another project and then I added my phrase.

click the photo and it will take you to the More than words post...make sure you also check out scrapsalot  she has a little bit of everything!

Ride the wave

I was a little shocked when I opened my Design team package from Scrapsalot and saw layering stamps...I'll be the first to admit I didn't have the best of luck lining up the ones I already owned but turns out I love the heroscapes from hero arts and I think this one is going to be my favorite...this set of layering stamps is pretty easy to line up even with my horrible eye sight LOL

It has all these really nice element that can be use individual or all together!

I adore the surfers and the little birds...I can see using them a lot! I will admit the more I practice the easier it gets.

all supplies used to make this card (except card base) came from Scrapsalot make sure you go check it out, Debra has a little bit of everything and if you don't see it just email her and she'll do her best to help you out!

Books are my Happy place! Lots of photos

* Warning lots of photos*

Here is my entry for the More than words challenge, I haven't played in my art journal for quite some time,I forgot how much I really enjoyed it!

this is "My favorite days start with Messy hair, books and coffee" those are my perfect days LOL I love sitting in the corner of my couch with a good book and a cup of coffee (ha the hair is always a mess) on cold days you grab the throw and get lost in your book for hours! but I also love to craft with books..I find them at the thrift stores or the dollar store. I try not to buy too many at one time LOL but habitat for humanity has such a huge collection of Old warn out books it's so hard not to grab a couple LOL

I started with a basic collage background using some of these really cool squares from this really cool book I got from the dollar store awhile ago...I loved the cover and thought it would be great as an altered book or even as a art journal the actual book is called the tile makes the room haha so it has all these really cool photos of different tiles and rooms...I just thought it was cool.

Like I said I used the squares around the edge of my page then in the middle I used torn up dictionary pages...I sketched my lovely lady on an old German cook book page (LOVE that one it even smells old)

you can see these elements in the photo below...I did add some distress texture paste crackle💖...when I first had the idea for this page, I was thinking an apricot color haha as you can see I didn't like it so much! So I added a watered down admiral blue then took a crumpled up paper towel and dabbed off areas that alone added so much texture

unnn yeah I haven't sketched anything in a Very very long time LOL but I was in the mood...shes not perfect but she's mine and you can only erase so many times on old paper LOL shhh..her eye on the left has a small hole in the paper hehe that's when I said enough was enough

I made a couple little books with the left over pages on my desk

okay I could probably ramble more but you can see the photos

*Stopped typing to take photo of book..LOL*

the squares

some of the colorful tiles pages

Thank you so much for stopping by and reading my ramblings!

Mermaid Dreams

I'm going to pretend that the world isn't a scary place at the moment...just for a little while anyway..

These photo's just don't do it justice but the sun wasn't cooperating for the last couple days 😕

Today I'm going to share some ocean fum...who doesn't love mermaids...as part of my Design team package I received this pretty papers from Echo park called Mermaid tales (12x12) and mermaid dreams (6x6 paper pad) Lots of pretty colors and of course tons of mermaids

I picked through the papers, it was so hard to decide on which patterns to use so I went back and looked for the image I wanted first...haha I found her the perfect mermaid to fussy cut she was hiding in the large journal cards

these are the cutest papers...I might just make a couple scrapbook pages with old photo's of my girls! Anyway the card looked a little eh...so I pulled out the distress glaze and embossing pens Debra (owner of scrapsalottampa.com ) sent ...I did a rough outline of her tail and top then scribbled it in...when I say rough I really mean rough..LOL

but look at the shine and texture it adds...I really wish you could see it in person it's so much better!

okay there you have it super simple but pretty card with no stamps required... make sure you check out Scrapsalot if you don't see it on the sight just send a quick email to Debra or catch her in the FB group

Have a Fabulous weekend...yeah I know it's Thursday but wishing it was Friday LOL

Squeeze the day!

 Good afternoon my crafty friends...
so I was playing around with some supplies from Scrapsalot.....you know how much I love to mix and match so today I am playing with some hero arts items... first, let's talk about this awesome background stamp I  love it, it gives such a clean crisp image easiest one I've ever used LOL okay here is the mix and match I used Hero arts sparkling sea embossing power for some reason I just thought it looked so lovely I probably should have added some blue elsewhere, hey we all have afterthoughts LOL

I used some Nuvo alcohol markers to color in my lemons,  I like them for me they are a better alternative to Copic those I can't afford those LOL! this was a really quick and simple card to put together

Just look how awesome that looks.....maybe they will make a sea green one that would be beautiful!

Supplies from Scrapsalot

Hero Arts-stamp set Zest wishes there are dies for this set too

Hero Arts- background stamps fresh citrus bold prints

Hero Arts-sparkling sea embossing powder

Nuvo Alcohol Markers

Crabby...

This card is so me lately, I might just have to give it to my husband LOL...

I used this really cute set from photo play, I stamped a bunch of sea images then scan and cut them with my silhouette portrait (I always forget I can do that) It's so darn helpful LOL I colored them using nuvo alcohol markers 💓 I love these markers Debra from Scrapsalot sent them to me to try they are a great alternative to copic markers...Nuvo is more in my price range and they came 3 to the package light med and dark  made coloring super easy for me!

now for my back panel..the ocean ...I used ink oxides. lets see I used tumbled glass, broken china and mermaid lagoon (I need to start writing these things down!  So normally I would just blend them with the blending brushes but I saw someone (sorry I can't remember where I saw it it was either Fb or youtube)  paint them on so I thought I'd give it a try basically you smash some on your craft mat use a wide paint brush wet with plain water then paint across your paper kind of like strips across your page <-----> you just keep changing colors until you have the effect you want, Its so hard to see in the photo but in real life you'll see the difference.

So I used a generic rectangle stitched border die this

size I could get two small backgrounds, I'll use the other one another day.

it was simple to use Kraft card stock and create a little sandy spot a couple plants and a fist with lots of bubbles and my scene is complete  well we can't forget (me) the crab!
I layered a couple different colors...I really wanted just the blue but my idea of the embossing (Fiskars texture plate) didn't pan out as planned so I adapted my idea LOL

Items used from Scrapsalot shop

  1.  Ink oxides- tumbled glass, broken china and mermaid lagoon
  2. Photo Play -fish tales elements
  3. Catherine Pooler- Midnight ink
  4. Archival ink-shadow grey and watering can

thank you so much for stopping by to check out my card!
