sketchabilities No.136

Happy Hump Day....I feel like its been forever since I've worked on a layout LOL now we all know that's not true but with the cold I had everything is a bit foggy! I saw the new sketch from sketchabilities #136 and just had to play!
I combined sketchabilities sketch challenge with the challenge over on the Flying Unicorn forum All about the Bling...criteria for their challenge is 1. layers of patterned paper 2. chalk or inked edges 3. flowers
4. machine stitching or stamped stitching 5. bling (X3)

for the bling I used half back pearls, lindy's stamp gang starburst mist, glitter on the larger flowers and Glitterazzi swirls.... I also used faux stitching because my daughter has the sewing machine!

Fly away

I thought I would play along with Sketchabilites newest sketch....for some reason it just called to me!

I pull out some bits and pieces that have been in my stash for quite awhile now...the chipboard window (not even sure where that came from ),the small wooden tags, the die cut hearts and butterfly, handmade fabric flowers and the two small paper frames are well over a year old..hmmm come to think of it the only new thing is one of the stencils I used in the background LOL
Love Love this sketch!!!!! I love the tiny wood tags, I just used some gesso on them then found some cute stamps...
all in all I love how it turned out! thanks for stopping by!

Enjoy the small stuff

So I've been thinking about the ARTastic challenge since it came out this month-inspiration this month comes from the Alice in Wonderland series of paintings by Charles Blackman. Criteria is anything goes but your photos must depict crazy antics, silliness or just having loads of fun. I was thinking something fun and very loud...I think I hit the nail on the head with this one LOL

I was inspired by the yellow in the painting but couldn't resist the craziness that is Alice in wonderland..I used a picture of my daughter and her friend at the last Cosplay convention...look at them in all their silliness!
I also used the sketch from  Sketchabilities it just seemed to fit what I had in mind!

thank you so much for coming to take a peek!

Beauty

When I saw the sketch over at sketchabilities I knew I was going to play with this one....All the papers used for this layout(besides the background) were scraps or Journal cards...even the die cuts(well silhouette cuts LOL) I kind of have a thing for nature pictures....these are from a stream near my best friends house in N.H. it was just too pretty to resist

a couple stencils, gesso, molding paste and some of Lindy's Moon shine mist to help create the background...I just never know what to do with the beautiful journaling cards( received most in a RAK when I first started scrapbooking) I have because most times I do hidden journaling and I really wanted you all to see the pretty cards

I think my favorite things about this LO is I finally used one of my frog charms...

Beautiful Views of Seattle

So I have even more pictures from my pen-pal...this time they are of Seattle and the beautiful skyline....I love these pictures! I couldn't wait to scrap them....I used a sketch from Sketchabilities its a wonderful sketch but for some reason I had a really hard time with it....not sure if it was the papers I picked or just the mood I was in.. I started the layout yesterday but I just wasn't happy with it.....So I played around......then I decided to just sleep on it LOL Nothing like dreaming of demon paper!
So this morning with fresh eyes I still had no idea what was wrong....just that I didn't like it LOL

I was still having no luck.....I pulled out the gesso ( I really need to invest in some stencils) I just used some scrap mess I had around it has a better effect with ink but I thought I would try.....I like some of it but it mostly looks like globs..lol......here is the sketch......

see its a beautiful sketch.....I just couldn't wrap my head around this one for some reason!

the flowers are all made by me....I took some of my daughters teenie tiny beads for the centers....LOVE the flowers!
see the close up doesn't look so bad...Love the little hearts at the top above the pictures...they are all soft and fuzzy..
just another view of the flowers......

thanks for coming to take a peek....
