Scrap Africa no.55

Oh there's a new challenge over at Scrap Africa Challenge no.55 - July Mood Board ......first thought was my wood grain papers (that I might have been hoarding I just love them!) I wanted to pull the wood and the colors from the mood board and make a pretty card that had a country feel to it...I think I did a pretty good job getting my idea to the paper!

I had these cute little wood flower embellishments from Prima, called Natural bark shapes...I added them under the twine...

sketchabilities No.136

Happy Hump Day....I feel like its been forever since I've worked on a layout LOL now we all know that's not true but with the cold I had everything is a bit foggy! I saw the new sketch from sketchabilities #136 and just had to play!
I combined sketchabilities sketch challenge with the challenge over on the Flying Unicorn forum All about the Bling...criteria for their challenge is 1. layers of patterned paper 2. chalk or inked edges 3. flowers
4. machine stitching or stamped stitching 5. bling (X3)

for the bling I used half back pearls, lindy's stamp gang starburst mist, glitter on the larger flowers and Glitterazzi swirls.... I also used faux stitching because my daughter has the sewing machine!

the whole post it idea came from Lainie over at the flying unicorn

Fly away

I thought I would play along with Sketchabilites newest sketch....for some reason it just called to me!

I pull out some bits and pieces that have been in my stash for quite awhile now...the chipboard window (not even sure where that came from ),the small wooden tags, the die cut hearts and butterfly, handmade fabric flowers and the two small paper frames are well over a year old..hmmm come to think of it the only new thing is one of the stencils I used in the background LOL
Love Love this sketch!!!!! I love the tiny wood tags, I just used some gesso on them then found some cute stamps...
all in all I love how it turned out! thanks for stopping by!

love

well lets start by saying I tried a couple of the techniques from Scrap Africa for their latest challenge....Distressing with a Difference..I really wanted to try something I hadn't done before (so the coffee and tea were out).. I tried the stamping with bleach..yeah that didn't turn out so well but I am willing to try it again at some point LOL then I tried Vaseline for embossing or stamping I ended up making just a big mess...
So I decided to try distressing m,y papers with a cheese grater ( you had to see the look on my hubby's face when he saw me he just shook his head and walked away!) which you'll see in my layout.. the brown and white paper was done with the grater but the one under it was done with a nail file/emery board because it was just too thing and I mangled one piece already LOL
I used the fabulous sketch from the Flying Unicorns Mojo Monday
and used some handmade flowers (big green one is store bought) for the Berry71blue handmade flowers challenge

Practice makes perfect....or not!

well I have tried to make my own paper flowers and I just haven't gotten to where I really like them LOL so I watched youtube again and decided to try some different types of fabric flowers and I just wanted to share and see what you all think...now mind you I just used some scrap fabric that was around( but I really like the light pink colors LOL)

I made these yesterday.......Oh the yellow is paper I don't like it at all ....that's kind of what spurred me to make some fabric ones!

Just a closer view.....

this one is really soft and fluffy like the pink ones ubove
 side view

Ok so tell me what you think.....if its bad I can take it LOL I do like these better then my try at the paper ones!

thanks for taking a peek....
