keeping distracted

So I'm trying to distract myself...when I get stressed I tend to clean normally that's not a bad thing but when you think you broke the water heater from using too much Hot water you know it's time to cut back LOL

So instead I took it in the opposite direction and I made a crafty mess...I pulled out a couple colors that I love Peacock feathers and wilted violet...I used both distress oxide inks and sprays (both you can get from Scrapsalot shop) on these pretty tags

there was a whole lot of layering going on here...paper gesso texture paste ink sprays some more inks more paper then some embellishments...
when I first got the word board die-cut set I really had no idea what I was going to do with it other than a word board but I seem to use their alphabet die a whole lot...it comes in quite handy!
I entered this one in the challenge over at More than Words

thanks for coming by and checking out my new tags...stay safe and distracted!

Items used from scrapsalot shop

Oxide inks- wilted violet, black soot, peacock feathers
Oxide spray-wilted violet and peacock feathers
archival inks- watering can and jet black
dimensional foam circles
sugar pea word board die-cut

Better to Give

really early depending on how you look at things....

I spent most of the day being crafty as I had a couple things that I needed to get done for the holiday....this also works in my favor for the latest challenge over at Scrap Africa (Tell us what a traditional December is like for you, in your home town, city or country. So journalling is a must...even if just telling us the story on your blog!)

since I haven't really had time for a normal layout I decided to share what I've been working on today and kind of journal about it on my blog.

So we haven't had a typical December in the last couple of years..its just been real hard on us but we are gradually getting back into things...one thing that has always been the same is the our giving nature, even when my girls were small we always donated more of our time and small gifts to those who needed them. As I started crafting the list of things to donate became even bigger...this year we took the homemade route I have made dozens of cards for St. Jude and dozens for a local nursing home (never mind the fact that I made 24 for my daughters friends and family)...we baked holiday cookies for the after school program (with homemade holiday tags)...this was great because we actually got to see them receive them...the smile are so worth any effort!

Both girls grew up knowing it was always better to give then to receive....My Sam is 22 years old and she still volunteers and has a special project of her own this year which leads to the things I was working on today.

I had to make a bunch of tags...my daughter is sewing up a bunch of little pouches that will be holding some holiday candies for her to hand out!
little box and tag for one of Sam's coworkers
and of course a very special Christmas card  for a very special little girl (wish I had thought of this one sooner...I would have sent these to my family LOL )

I'm not sure how much of this made any sense but thanks for stopping by and checking it out!

Happy Holidays!

TAG IT

Evening my scrappy friends....let me just tell you I was really excited to see the new challenge over at Scrap Africa.....its called "TAG IT"

Tags are so versatile and can be used in so many ways!
So our challenge to you is to use your tags and show us what you can do with them.
Please just make sure that you use at least 2 tags.
You can create a page, card or OTP project.
anyway...as I was saying I was excited because I had these cute little Christmas tags I printed out awhile back but they were too small (yes yes I have issues with measurements LOL ) for the project I wanted to use them for...so I just kind of tucked them away with all the other miscalculated items (there are lots and lots) I really try not to waste much....in the end it will all get used!
so these tags were the perfect size for a Christmas card :)

a little ink.... a little stamp....add a bow..and..Tada a cute Christmas card!

thanks for coming to take a peek.....

Lost my Mojo

Evening my scrappy friends....I've been staring at this months sketches and I just can't seem to find my mojo LOL so I trolled a few sites and ended up on Beyond the grey challenges and inspiration struck! Their new challenge Textured Tag...I went for bright and cheerful :) I used texture paste and a simple stencil, lots of mist and a couple different stamps

I basically used what was already on my desk...left of over die cut some butterflies...haha even the stamps I used just happen to still be on my desk...I think I need to clean my desk LOL
I was trying to find a good angle so you could see the texture...I don't have any small stencils so most look a little off on smaller projects...this one just happened to fit pretty well!
Thank you so much for coming to take a peek at my found Mojo! LOL

Your one of a kind - tag

I make this super cute tag for the challenge over at that's just so cute...the challenge was to use textile..I used some of left over denim I had from when I covered my art journal

I used a thick layer of gesso which I just added with my finger,I thought I would get a bit messy ....then I used a plan stamp to stamp into the gesso...I used a couple different quick dry chalk inka nd a sprits of water (I should of paid a little bit more attention to the placement because you can only see bits of it in the pictures....but it has a really cool effect)

I added the denim hearts and sewed them in place
add some Bling and done....

thanks for coming to take a peek!

Create something

Afternoon all....I just wanted to share a little something.... I spent the morning playing catch up on all the blogs I follow,I seem to have fallen behind the last two weeks...I came across a post from Lynne at the next best thing she just returned from a vacation in Alaska...she hadn't created a thing for two whole weeks..LOL I don't know how she managed!
anyway she has a little challenge going on...Create something using only the things on your work surface.....you may add adhesives and simple tools if you need them!

I thought I'd give it a shot....Now mind you my work space is pretty small and I normally clear everything off my little table once a project is done but it just so happens I was very lazy this weekend and didn't put stuff away ....so I had a stack of Authentique two sided elements, some tiny scraps of paper left over from a layout I did Saturday,Oh and a small gift bag I had gotten in the mail the other day that had cute little bits and pieces...plus a couple chalk  inks from prima(used them Saturday too LOL) most of the stuff I used came out of the small gift bag its one of those itty bitty bags but she managed to stuff it  with a bunch of little things....here is what I came up with...a small tag

also linking up with Inkido for their scallop challenge
the background, doilie, lace flower were all in the blue stripped bag...the wood bird and closes pin are from the mutli colored container (pill holder from the dollar store,I loved that they all screwed together)...It always seems to be on the table it holds all my small wood pieces...I've never been so happy NOT to clean up LOL

thanks for taking a peek....

Love Tag...

Friday's challenge over at Quick Quotes:

Friday Challenge 24:
  • Create a Non-Traditional Valentine Card or Tag.  (Not red/pink/white color scheme.)
  • You can create a layout, card, mini album or altered art, just use a romantic theme with non-traditional colors.
  • Of course we would LOVE to see Quick Quotes products used on your project, but it's not a requirement to play.
  • You may use any products to participate in the challenge.
  • No back posting allowed, projects must be newly created for this challenge.
  • One entry per person, per challenge please.

this is what I came up with......

Its funny when I started out this was not what I had in mind....the original paper was Victorian scene light purple haha then the rub on swirl(under the butterfly) kind of took over with everything else...there are several layers
I know the Ilove brad doesn't really fit but I really liked it so I added it!

thanks for taking a peek!
