LIM Week 284

okay so I took a quick glance at the new challenge over on the  Less is More blog....for some reason I missed the ONE LAYER part the first time I read it...all I saw was the theme Time LOL so I had an idea of with a clock die cut....needless to say I had to scrap that idea but I still able use the clock as a mask and create this card...I'll just use it as a generic note card...

this is the quote I used on my card.

OLS29 Christmas in July

One Layer Simplicity Challenge- Christmas in July

I started by masking off a section to highlight my image and inking around it.....the I used my stamp.....I love this Penguin stamp, its just too cute! I colored him with distress makers...added a bit of glitter to the rim and ball of the hat...I added a couple snowflake stamps which I heat embossed using Holographic embossing powder so they sparkle!

all in all I like how it turned out!

Recipe Week 282

The challenge this week over at Less is More is to use a stencil...I used a pretty stencil to create a background for this Birthday card, I'm sorry I don't know who makes this stencil haha its the only one I have that isn't in its package :(
It was a very simple card but the end product looks fabulous!

CAS(E) this Sketch #178

I have to say this is the cutest sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch and there are so many possibilities...I have a little tub full of used stamps that a couple friends gave me,most are small and I really had no idea what to do with most of them...they were out of sight until this past week when hubby bought me this eight cubby shelf unit thingy (lol) for all my crafty needs...anyway the tub is now sitting in plain sight and when I saw the sketch I pulled it out to see what little image I could use...
I started with a Tim Holtz stencil splatters...I tried to use the same colors I used to color the image...anyway here is what I came up with....

One-Layer Simplicity Challenge- STENCIL

I was kind of excited when I saw this months challenge over at One-Layer Simplicity Challenge add a stenciled background or just a hint of a stenciled area on your card...my only issue was which stencil to use LOL I ended up using this one because it seemed to go the best with my card idea.....

Week #276 One Layer Card

Here is my take on the one layer challenger over at Less is More...theme is at Sea....
I love this image of the light house and ocean/beach/water LOL so I just had to use it....I put a piece of ragged edged card stock over the image and sponged some ink around the edge....to me it gives it almost a layered look...I really like how it turned out!

OLS26: As You Wish April

The new challenge over at one layer simplicity is "As you wish." from the movie The Princess Bride.... I have to say I have never seen this movie...I've heard about it and even seen it mentioned in other movies LOL
anyway here is my card for the challenge....I used a couple different stamps...Collage Butterfly is from Kaisercraft....I really wanted to use that bottom butterfly on that stamp for the right hand corner,I tried to do a mirror image but it just kept getting smudged so I pulled out my stampin up butterfly. then there is the sentiment from Bo Bunny. I used my distress markers to color the bottom two and then scribbled on my stamping block, added a spritz of water and added it to the top left....

ARTastic TYPOGRAPHY

Here is the card I made for the new ARTastic TYPOGRAPHY challenge..... I was inspired by the fading letter in the background of the inspiration art. I used my silhouette portrait to create a stencil that is now my background and sentiment for my card...my ideas always seem way better in my head, I have a really hard time getting them onto the paper LOL but all in all it turned out pretty well considering I did three different stencils with three different fonts...I liked this one the best!

CRITERIA is to use TYPOGRAPHY on your work

Less is more Challenge 268

If you had asked me to look out my window last week my card probably would have been full of spring flowers......but that's not to be....as I look out my windows the last couple of days all I see is ice and snow :(  we have had about 3 weeks of beautiful warm weather,I've had my windows open and everything! yesterday I was so disappointed that I had to drag my sweater out because I was cold! Anyway for this weeks challenge over at Less is more its a recipe challenge to show us What's outside your window.... Well when I look out my window I see bare trees and tiny snow flakes...that's what inspired my card!

Words and Paintery March

Fabulous challenger over at Words and Paintery they are celebrating the words of Marilyn Monroe....so of course the colors are a bit girly....

"Nothing lasts forever. So live it up,drink it down, laugh it off, avoid drama, take chances and never have any regrets because at one point everything you did was exactly what you wanted." Marilyn Monroe

the only thing I knew for certain at the beginning of this card was the stamped sentiment I wanted to use...my daughter gave it to me awhile back and I thought it kind of fit what Marilyn was saying....as for the colors I had no clue....I'm not the best with colors and my go to person for bouncing ideas has moved out :( (my daughter) so I was on my own...I'll admit I was shocked when I uploaded the photo and looked at the inspiration photo side by side...haha I got the colors without even realizing it! anyway I went through my stash and pulled out a couple bits I thought might work...the only pattern paper I found that would fit what I wanted was a piece of scrap (which I used a border punch on) all the rest is mists and inks...I just kept messing with the combos until I liked them...

OLS24 - Friends

I decided to play along over at One-Layer Simplicity challenge......there are only two requirements for this challenge one is it has to be a one layer card (of course LOL ) and the second is the use of the word Friend/friends/friendship....you get the point...

here is my take....
I was very excited to use the cherry blossom stamp and the tiny butterflies I have no clue who made them (they were a gift from a friend) and they were unmounted....at the time she gave them to me I had no clue what I was going to do with them LOL

I still need to work on my inking...its still blotchy....I keep practicing :)

OLS18 Sparkle and Shine

One Layer Simplicity Challenge....here is my take on their Sparkle and shine challenge...I've had this little wheel of Gems for quite some time now (one of my thrift store finds) and this was the perfect time to bust them out....
I used a tear drop shape for the leaves and a round gem for the flower center!
